It always makes for a good headline and “meh” piece in a neutral tone, with hundreds upon hundreds of comments and views (which translate into money for said publications) to announce the result of a new study comparing men to women, even in frivolous ways.
It’s honestly sad that people keep falling for this artificial nosense and start throwing shit over the fence. Engaging with such morass by taking sides means helping to fill the trough of the Daily Mail and the like.
Here’s one I just came across, claiming men are now “officially” funnier than women. Speaking of feeding frenzies, the channel in question, quite promising a few years ago, now seems to cater to incels.
Before delving into this superficial endeavour, it makes sense to point out which differences can be quantified by studies in general – mainly physical differences and predispositions towards certain types of studies and work (in societies which offer choice). Anatomy, for instance, is not ambiguous and offers unquestionable data.
Then there are issues which fluctuate as societal trends change, such as the predisposition to get married and raise a family, remaining monogamous etc. These have been attributed to women for a very long time, apparently rooted in biological determinism, yet seem to have diluted over the decades. Of course occasionally voting trends can show differences in terms of empathy, attiudes and aspirations, in a more nebulous way.
Back to the “my strap-on is bigger than your dick”, versus “you’ll never have a dick and you’re jealous” competition.
Quantifying humour as nature distributed it to each sex, by measuring the “humour production ability” of 5000 people is laughable. It is reminiscent of the current endeavour to measure happiness per capita (which in itself is reminiscent of Pod people). “Science has finally settled the long-standing score”, writes the genius at the Daily Mail.
First of all, humour is subjective; its successful mass reception is reliant on local current mores – with an emphasis on “local” and “current”. There is no objective way to “grade” it as its evaluation depends on an individual’s/ a crowd’s beliefs and attitudes. There are no universal standards for it; what will make a theatre roar in London will get a comedian’s head chopped off in Saudi Arabia. It’s not comparable to assessing people’s ability to swim.
Secondly, we learn participants in these studies were asked to perform certain tasks, such as writing a funny capture for a cartoon. Therefore one moment’s lack of inspiration rendered a person less funny or unfunny altogether. Perhaps if they’d known that they were regarded as ambassadors for their sex (sic) and the conclusion would later be broadcasted as “science”, to be applied to the entire human species, participants would have made a better effort that minute.
That said, let’s delve into the public reaction to this precious revelation.
Feminists: “It’s fucking stupid”
For once, I agree with them, for the reasons listed above. Minus the overreaction, without which this joke would’ve attracted little attention.
However, I cringe a bit when remembering all the comediennes whose popularity cannot be explained save for them being women and, well, progressive. If women are generally considered less funny nowadays, the entertainment industry has a lot to answer for. Yes, everyone’s had enough of vagina and tampon jokes, thank you.
Just as women should not be deterred from entering this field due to stereotypes, now backed by “experts”, they should not be propelled into it to fill quotas or shove ideologies down people’s throats either.
Of course, the common sense remarks regarding the stupidity of the “study” were complemented by man-hating venom.
Incels, MGTOW & Company: “Women can’t stand the proven fact that men are better than them at something”
Again, for the reasons listed above, that isn’t accurate in the first place. But on they went with the group masturbation. A few comments from these types on said YouTube channel:
Women are children. And they VOTE. Remember that when you want to find the sources of the stupid laws and low birth rates.
Those “female comedians” who whined about data should get a sense of humour.
The cringiest thing I have ever seen was some beta forcing himself to laugh at his girlfriend’s jokes just to validate her.
I’m curious are leftists still pretending to stand for science
Men are also generally better at voting
In case you’re wondering, I didn’t hunt for these; I merely scrolled down for two seconds.
The creator’s commentary expanded on biological determinism and how men simply don’t care whether women are funny. “Men are visual creatures”, he added, implying women have only developed the abilities they need in order to attract men, producing humour simply being unecessary towards their chances of reproducing. It must be fairly strange to go through life seeing one’s fellow humans in this manner.
The actual conclusion to be drawn from this circus
The large scale shit flinging between feminists and cave men wannabes has gone on for a good few years now; I’m inclined to think any reasonable individual who is not completely antisocial has withdrawn from it and is now “vaccinated”.
Whoever is pulling these people’s strings must be rolling on the floor with laughter (including the publications and channels providing the shit to be flung and selling tickets).
